Natural Diaper Rash Cream

Diaper Rash CreamThis concoction works way better than any store bought product I have tried!

Before Logan was diagnosed I put in endless hours of research into what could have caused, or be causing her delays.  I started to really take notice about not only what I was feeding her (and all of us), but what I was putting on her skin.  I was amazed and disgusted at what our FDA allows in products (and food!)…especially in baby products!  I found that there are far too many toxic chemicals that we unknowingly let our bodies be slathered in.  Just because it is a pretty ad, a pretty bottle, or even a well known name, it does not mean it is safe to use.

So, I started to learn how to make products, which has always been a hobby of mine.  I went through lots of trial and error, and have found the perfect formula for an all natural diaper rash cream.  Actually, I use it for any skin issues…not only on the kids, but on us as well.  It is super easy to make, and takes under 10 minutes.  Plus, it costs a fraction of what you will buy in the stores. *Make sure you are using a proper essential oil.  Many of the brands that are available in health stores are not worth the money, and are not as potent as others.  I personally like doTERRA the best, followed by Young Living (I have never personally tried YL, but know the quality is great).

All Natural Diaper Rash Cream

Ingredients

1 cup organic coconut oil (any brand will do, just make sure it is organic)

1/3 cup beeswax pellets (*this is not necessary unless you want a thicker consistency that will stay on the skin.  Without it the product will just melt into the skin.  I’ve made it both ways.)

15 drops of lavender essential oil

15 drops of melaleuca essential oil

Directions

You can do this two ways: in a double boiler, or in the microwave.  Both options are fine and end in the same result.

Double Boiler: Place coconut oil and beeswax in the double boiler until melted.  Stir often.  I like to use a wire whisk…makes me feel creatively professional 🙂  Once melted, add the drops of essential oils.

Microwave: Place coconut oil and beeswax in a glass measuring cup or a glass bowl.  Microwave for 45 seconds, then stir.  Keep doing this until all is melted.  Once melted, add the drops of essential oils.

DSCN3325Pour into a glass jar and let cool.  I like to use an easy access jar…for those times where you only have one hand free!  Remember not to double dip…especially after applying to the sweet little hiney 😉
